Tour Description:
Escape the hustle and bustle of Marrakech’s medina and start a breathtaking day trip to the Ourika Valley, Kik Plateau, and the Atlas Mountains. After being picked up from your accommodation by our English-speaking driver, you’ll head into the Moroccan countryside where rolling plains quickly give way to dramatic valleys and scenic mountain passes.
Your first stop will be the village of Tafza, where you’ll visit a traditional Berber house perched on a hillside with sweeping views of the valley. Here, you’ll learn about daily Berber life and enjoy a warm welcome with mint tea and local hospitality.
Continue your ascent toward Oukaimeden, one of Morocco’s only ski resorts, nestled at nearly 2,000 meters (6,560 feet) above sea level. Take a moment to photograph the snow-capped peaks and the contrasting green valleys far below.
As the journey unfolds, descend into the vibrant Asni Valley, known for its weekly Berber souk (market), especially lively on Saturdays. This is an authentic experience where local farmers trade fresh produce and livestock in the heart of the mountains.
For lunch, you’ll have the unique choice to dine inside a traditional Berber family home or outside by the pool at a charming countryside inn—both offering a genuine taste of local cuisine.
Afterward, venture higher to the scenic Kik Plateau, reaching over 1,800 meters (5,900 feet) above sea level. Here, panoramic mountain views stretch endlessly, dotted with tiny Berber adobe villages. You may even spot paragliders launching from the cliffs as you descend on the other side of the plateau.
The final leg of your tour brings you to Lake Lalla Takerkoust, a serene 7 km-long reservoir framed by crumbling Kasbahs and peaceful mountain terrain. Relax by the lakeside with a refreshing cup of tea before heading back to Marrakech—your camera full of unforgettable memories..
