On this 5-days tour from Fes to Desert, we will travel from Fes to Marrakech. We will firstly pass by Ifrane, Midelt, Merzouga, Rissani, Todgha Gorge, Dadès Gorges, Ouarzazate, and Aït Benhaddou along the way. Admiring the spectacular scenery of the Atlas Mountains, experiencing the culture and traditions of the Berber people, enjoying the camel ride across the sand dunes in the desert, and exploring the historical Kasbahs in the various towns.

Day 1: Fes – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga

After the pick-up from your hotel in Fes, we will travel into the mountains to a region known as Imouzzer Kandar, blanketed by forests of cedar, juniper and cork oak. The area is well known for its abundant wildlife, and we may see many types of birds, wild boars and Barbary apes on our scenic drive. Then, the road will start climbing into the Middle Atlas Mountains where we may see dotted slopes  by the tents, goat & sheep herds of nomadic Berbers who call this rugged region home. After lunch in Midelt, we continue to the wide flowing Oued Ziz Valley. Passing many Kasbahs and palm groves we slowly start approaching the first dunes of Merzouga. We will spend the night in a hotel right on the outskirts of the desert.

Day 2: Desert Exploration

After having your breakfast, we will explore a region of desert landscapes, but will start with a visit to the seasonal lake of Dayet Srji, where we might encounter pink flamingos. The desert against the lake provides a beautiful contrast. We will also visit the Khamila village, where we listen to the Gnaoua music, a style typical in the region. In the afternoon before the sunset, we will get set to cross the desert landscape with a camel trek  to the camp for the night. We will spend the night in the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi in the desert  where you will join the staff to play the drums around the fire under limitless of star .

Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorge – Dades Gorge

After a stunning sunrise and breakfast, we will pass through Rissani where the 3 days local market takes place. Then, we will explore  the region of many dotted adobe houses in Tinghir, palmeries and gorges creating photographers paradise. We will visit the Todra Gorge, the highest oasis in Morocco, with walls of 1000 feet (300 m). We will end our day in a spectacular valley  of Boumalen Dades, lined by red and mauve rock that towers high above the road.

Day 4: Boumalen Dades – Rose Valley – Sekoura – Ouarzazate – Ait BenHaddou

After breafast, we will drive to the town of Roses, home to beautiful scents especially during April and May when the roses are in bloom. After our visit, we will follow the road of Thousand Kasbahs to the Skoura Oasis, lined by palm groves. Here we visit one of the Kasbah, Amerhidil, once an important Kasbah in Moroccan history. Then we arrive to the developing city of Ouarzazate. We will have the chance to see the main sights of Ouarzazate such as : The Atlas studios and the Taourirt Kasbah. We will spend the night at Ait Benhaddou .

Day 5: Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech

In the morning we will visit the unique and well-preserved Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou. We recommend a walk through the winding streets of the Kasbah for awe-inspiring views. The Kasbah is quite extraordinary and it is no surprise that it has inspired many films and directors. After our visit, it will be time to cross the High Atlas Mountains on a dramatic drive over the Tizi N-Tichka Pass. Accommodation in a riad or a hotel.
